On May 19, 2022, a meeting took place at the Municipality of Silistra between representatives of the local government—Acting Mayor Dr. Miroslav Velikov Todorov, Deputy Mayors Ms. Maria Nedyalkova and Eng. Tihomir Borachev, and Municipal Secretary Mr. Rostislav Pavlov—and representatives of the National Union of Worker-Producer Cooperatives in Bulgaria, including Chairman Mr. Bozhidar Stanchev, Deputy Chairman Assoc. Prof. Vladislav Lazarov, and Mr. Veselin Dechev, Chairman of the "Metal" Producer Cooperative in Silistra.
The discussion focused on current employment issues within the municipality, as well as potential partnerships aimed at fostering and developing cooperatives in the region, creating new jobs, and establishing conditions for social entrepreneurship. The participants agreed to join forces to address their mutual interests within the sphere of the social and solidarity economy. Furthermore, they discussed participation in upcoming European and regional forums, as well as initiatives organized by the National Union of Worker-Producer Cooperatives.
An agreement on interaction and long-term cooperation was signed between the Municipality of Silistra and the National Union of Worker-Producer Cooperatives.
