Vladislav Lazarov, PhD, DSc, Chairman of the National Union of Labour-Producer Cooperatives (TPK), participated in the General Assembly of SESOR. The event took place on June 9th at the premises of CASES (Cooperativa António Sérgio para a Economia Social) in Portugal, hosted by Confecoop (Confederação Cooperativa Portuguesa, Ccrl).
On June 8th, SESOR organized an information briefing at the center of Fenacerci—the National Federation of Social Solidarity Cooperatives of Portugal—to provide an overview of national cooperative traditions. This was followed by site visits to several cooperative organizations:
Culture and Copyright at SPA: We were welcomed by Executive Director Paula Cunha, who introduced us to the work of the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA). With a history spanning over a century, this cooperative protects and values the work of Portuguese creators and artists, demonstrating that culture is best organized through a cooperative model.
Affordable Housing at FENACHE: We met with President Manuel Tereso to discuss the Portuguese model for affordable housing cooperatives. At a time when access to housing has become a critical challenge across Europe, FENACHE demonstrates how the cooperative sector can develop quality housing with controlled costs—free from speculative motives. On June 9, a General Assembly of SESOR was held. The organization's development direction was discussed, the new SESOR Strategic Plan for the 2026–2029 period was approved, and the achievements of the previous term were analyzed.
